Alaska Pulp Scholarship Foundation Scholarship

The Alaska Pulp Scholarship Foundation has been established to honor the memory of Tadao Sasayama, Founder of the Alaska Pulp Corporation.  Since 1954, the Alaska Pulp Corporation has been a part of the Wrangell and Sitka communities.  Mr. Sasayama was the founder and first chairman of Alaska Pulp Corporation.  He was a frequent visitor to Wrangell and displayed a keen interest in Alaska and its people.  He retired in 1971 and passed away three years later at the age of 78.  An APC scholarship is $10,000 total ($2,500 per year, renewable for four years) and is dependent upon the student maintaining good standing and a full course load as prescribed by the post-secondary school.  It is available to Wrangell and Sitka High School seniors who plan to pursue post-secondary education.  Selection will be based on outstanding academic achievement and/or special talent.
